Submittals Help
Manage packages, approval stages, revisions, responses, distribution, and reporting.
Quick reference
4The 60-second submittal model
Draft → Open → Sequential approval stages → Done → Distribution → Optional revision
Read articleStatuses, stages, and ball-in-court
Approvers can choose Reviewed, No Exceptions Noted, Approved As Noted, Revise And Resubmit, Rejected, or Submitted. An individual response does not directly determine the submittal's status. Once the stage meets its approval condition, ball-in-court advances to the next stage.

Submittals require the Project Management package and View submittals access.

5Understanding the submittal lifecycle
Use a submittal when documents need a clear path from initial submission through review, approval, and distribution. It keeps due dates, sequential decisions, the formal result, and every revision connected.

Set up project defaults when your team uses the same numbering, managers, or review paths repeatedly. Open Submittals, then the settings action. Project settings can include:
Read articleCreating and opening a submittal
Create a Draft when you want to assemble the documents and approval path before notifying approvers. Opening the submittal makes that review path active.

5Finding submittals and ball-in-court
Use the panel, table, or Inbox view to find work by status, due state, manager, contractor, type, package, or spec section. The Inbox helps you focus on submittals that are relevant to you.
Read articleResponding to an approval stage
Respond when the submittal is in your stage and you have completed your review. Your selection, comments, and documents become part of the approval history.
Read articleClosing and distributing a submittal
Close and distribute the submittal when review is complete and you are ready to issue the official result. Before finishing, confirm the documents, recipients, and Official Status that should appear in the record.
Read articleCreating and managing revisions
Select Revise and Resubmit on a non-Draft record. Constructable creates a linked Draft with the same title, manager, spec section, and package context. Complete documents and stages on the new revision, then open it.
Read articleChanging status and deleting
Changing the status directly does not send the approval or distribution notifications sent by Open Submittal and Close and Distribute Submittal. For the usual workflow, use those guided actions.

2Downloading, reporting, and bulk editing
Bulk status changes do not perform the guided opening or distribution steps. A PDF captures the submittal at that moment, so generate it again after responses, documents, or distribution change.
Read articleUsing submittals on drawings, in meetings, and on mobile
Submittals can be linked to drawing topics. Meetings can include a smart Open Submittals section that adds open submittals until the meeting is finished. Starting the meeting removes completed smart items from that agenda copy without deleting source submittals.
