Constructable turns plan PDFs into project drawings you can publish, search, and connect to revisions, referenced sheets, markup, and project workflows. Instead of stopping at a file viewer, you can move from a location on the plan to the project information and work connected to it.
From upload to trusted drawing
After you upload a drawing set, Constructable separates it into sheets and prepares it for the viewer. It reads available text and attempts to detect sheet numbers, titles, disciplines, and a usable scale.
Treat these details as suggestions, not final drawing data. A drawing administrator reviews and confirms the sheet metadata before publication. Consistent sheet numbers are especially important because they connect a new upload to existing drawings, revision history, sheet references, and search.
Links and exact locations
Constructable identifies many printed sheet references and links them to matching published sheets in the same drawing area. You can use drawing search to find readable text and jump to an exact highlighted location. AI source links can use the same highlighting when a supported phrase is available.
Recognition depends on the source PDF. A scanned plan, overlapping text, unusual naming, unreadable reference, unpublished target, or inconsistent sheet number can prevent a link or highlight.
Revisions stay connected
When a confirmed sheet matches an existing drawing, publishing adds it to that drawing's revision history. The newest published revision becomes current, while older revisions remain available for review and comparison.
Constructable can carry forward scale information and non-takeoff markup when a new revision meets the supported conditions. Check copied markup in the new revision because a changed plan may require you to reposition it. Takeoff markup is not automatically carried forward.
Pinned project workflows
Pins connect exact drawing locations to supported Comments, Topics, RFIs, Submittals, Quality Items, photos, and other available records. For example, you can pin an RFI to the affected wall detail so the location and formal question stay connected. The pin provides spatial context; the connected record still owns its status, assignments, permissions, and formal history.
If you can view the drawing, you still may not be able to view every pin or connected record. Each workflow keeps its own permission and visibility rules.

- Review suggested metadata and scale before you publish or measure.
- Keep related revisions in the same drawing area, and confirm sheet numbers consistently.
- Use links and highlights to reach context quickly, then verify the source sheet and revision.
- Check carried-forward markup on every new revision.
- Choose a pin type based on the workflow you need after identifying the location.
Limits and checks
Constructable cannot guarantee accurate metadata, scale, links, searchable text, or revision matching from every PDF. Confirm critical dimensions against contract documents or field conditions. Overlay and Split View comparisons can support your review, but they do not determine contractual significance.
