Constructable helps you move from a question or phrase to the project records you are allowed to access. Keyword Search finds matching content, semantic search can find related ideas even when the wording differs, and AI can bring available sources together in an answer.

Permission-aware discovery
Search and AI check your project and record access before retrieving Constructable information. A search result, generated answer, Chat, notification, or direct link does not give you access to a hidden record.
This means you and a teammate can receive different results for the same request. You may belong to different projects, have different role permissions, or have access to different shared records and project data.
Search for sources, AI for synthesis
Use keyword Search when you know a number, name, company, or distinctive phrase and want to open the source record. For example, search an exact RFI number when you need that RFI. Semantic matching can help when the project uses different wording from your question.
Use an AI answer or Chat when you need a summary, comparison, or explanation across the project information available to you. For example, you might ask for a summary of open coordination concerns before a meeting. AI answers are generated interpretations—not source records, approvals, contractual decisions, or complete reports.
Source-linked answers
When Constructable finds supported source material, AI responses link back to project records so you can inspect the evidence yourself. A drawing reference can open the relevant sheet and highlight the exact matched phrase when the drawing has readable text and a precise match is available.
Use links and highlights as review aids. A scan may not contain usable text, a phrase may not be recognized, and a linked record may later be moved, archived, deleted, or restricted.
What this means for you
- Your search results and the project information available to AI are limited to what your account can access in the current project context.
- Use exact words for known records and focused, natural-language questions when you want AI to bring information together.
- Open source links before you rely on a status, date, quantity, assignment, approval, or contract language.
- You and a teammate may see different evidence even when permissions are working correctly.
Limits and responsible use
Search and AI need an online connection. Recently added or changed content can take time to become searchable, especially when Constructable needs to extract text or process meaning from a file. Scanned images, poor-quality PDFs, uncommon wording, and unsupported record types can reduce what is found.
AI can leave out relevant material or interpret it incorrectly. It does not guarantee that every historical change or visible word was included. When you need complete totals, use a report or the authoritative project tool. Record formal decisions in the appropriate workflow.
