Understanding the submittal lifecycle
Use a submittal when documents need a clear path from initial submission through review, approval, and distribution. It keeps due dates, sequential decisions, the formal result, and every revision connected.
Use a submittal when documents need a clear path from initial submission through review, approval, and distribution. It keeps due dates, sequential decisions, the formal result, and every revision connected.
Best for: Project managers, contractors, architects, engineers, and document control · Outcome: Preserve who submitted, who reviewed, what they decided, and what was distributed.
Preparing a Draft gives you time to check the documents and approval path before anyone needs to act. Opening starts approvals and assigns the active number. Approvers are notified when their stage becomes current, and subscribers are notified of approvals. Closing and distributing moves the record to Done and creates a distribution record.
