Best for: RFI managers and draft creators · Requires: Limited draft or RFI write access; opening requires RFI write access.

Create a Draft when you want to prepare the question and routing before notifying anyone. Opening the RFI makes it active, assigns its number, and lets respondents begin answering.

  1. Open RFIs.
  2. Select New RFI.
  3. Enter a clear subject and question.
  4. Set the manager, respondents, subscribers, and due date.
  5. Record cost or schedule impact when known.
  6. Add question attachments and drawing references as needed.
  7. Review the Draft.
  8. Select Open RFI.
  9. In Confirm Open RFI, select Yes, Open RFI.

Opening notifies respondents and subscribers and places the ball in respondents' court. The record receives its active number at this point.
