The Budget stores planned project costs. The Original Budget is modification number zero, and later Budget Modifications create a clear history of changes.

Best for: Project accountants and budget managers · Outcome: Update planned cost without erasing the original history.

Use the Original Budget for the approved starting plan. Use a new Budget Modification when the budget changes after that baseline.

Within a modification, you can add lines, import supported CSV data, and assign budget coding. A Prime CO can create or update a related budget modification when its budget impact becomes billable.

User-created modifications appear with a Budget: [title] label. A PCO-linked modification appears as Budget Impact #NNN in budget source columns.

If an existing line is locked, keep that history intact. Add the correction to a new modification, including a negative line when you need to reverse a prior budget amount.
