Locking and unlocking budgets and modifications

Locking protects approved budget information from accidental or unnecessary edits.

Best for: Budget managers · Requires: Additional permission to unlock protected data.

You can lock the Original Budget and later modifications independently. Before locking:

1. Confirm the coding and amounts.
2. Resolve import conflicts.
3. Confirm any related PCO budget impact.
4. Export a review copy if required by your process.

Unlock only when the approved budget itself is wrong. If circumstances changed after approval, a new Budget Modification usually provides a clearer history.

Prime CO budget modifications may lock automatically when the change becomes billable. Unlocking them can make the current Budget harder to reconcile with the approved change history.
